Ray Webster and Jacqui Ball (Hillhead) combined to win the Otago Pairs title at the weekend. In a closely contested final they defeated the Green Island pairing of Brent Sinclair and Lyn Rance 10-5. This was Webster’s thirteenth Centre title and Ball’s second.

In the semi finals Webster won a close game 8-6 over Robert Ritchie and John Eddington while Sinclair easily accounted for Daniel French and Nick Sinclair 11-1.

However, a four followed up with a two saw Webster out to a 7-2 lead after five ends. This break was to prove decisive as Sinclair could only manage three more shots in the remaining ends and Webster also scored three to run out the winner 10-5.
